The path to becoming a physician can be challenging...
Premed students are expected to succeed in their classes, volunteer, do research, have clinical experiences, as well as participate in a variety of other extracurricular activities – many times for free. For students who are economically disadvantaged and may need to work to be able to stay in school, participating in all of these activities can be extremely difficult. Studying at a large institution with many premedical students can often make things harder, since students don't receive individualized counseling for their specific needs.
...but we're here to help!
There are several private services that offer comprehensive pre-medical counseling, but these cost a lot of money! On top of that, most of these other companies use consultants that never went through the pre-medical process themselves. The ones that did go to medical school are often far removed from the current realities of the application cycle.
WHO WE ARE
The Populi Foundation is a 501c3 recognized nonprofit organization focused on providing premedical counseling to students from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds. Our mission is to promote a physician workforce representative of the people it serves.
We Are Different
We pledge to provide individualized advice to socioeconomically disadvantaged premedical students by connecting them with medical students that were just in their shoes! Together we will change the face of medicine by creating a future workforce of physicians that will go out and serve a world that looks like them!
